Lessons

  1. Nobaptism with the HStoday, despite the claims of the false teachers to the contrary (cf. # 1 above).
  2. But there is indwelling of the HS today (= sealing, strengthening, interceding, etc.) for those who become Christians (cf. # 2 above) – rejoice!
  • Recall Isa 44:3 ‘For I will pour out water on the thirsty land And streams on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring And My blessing on your descendants;
  1. No miraculous gifts of the HS today (e.g., tongues, prophecy, healings), despite the claims of the false teachers to the contrary (cf. # 3 above).

Wisdom is not found in the land of the living!

Wisdom is not found in the land of the living!

Job 28:1-11 Job describes the exploits of miners over 3½ thousand years ago (probably)

Job 28:12-22 Even though people have been successful in mining precious metals and precious stones from the earth (recall Job 28:1-11), they have not been successful on their own in discovering what according to Job in Job 28:12?

Job 28:23-28 Don’t despair!  How are the questions asked in Job 28:12,20 answered in Job 28:23?

Why should we prove all things?

Words of Defeat or Words of Victory?

Words of Defeat or Words of Victory?

How do we react when things don’t go as planned?

  • How do we react when times are hard?

Perhaps you have economic, family or health concerns?

Do we live our lives with words of defeat (like Job’s wife, the sons of Israel, the one talent man, Felix)?

Or do we live our lives with words of victory (like Job, King Hezekiah, Queen Esther, the apostle Paul)?

I know that my Redeemer lives

  1. know that our Redeemer lives (Job 19:25)
  2. rejoice that our Redeemer has taken His stand on the earth (Job 19:25)
  3. remember that the dead will rise (Job 19:26,27)
  4. always be prepared for the last judgment (Job 19:26,27)
  5. eagerly wait for our Saviour from heaven (Job 19:27)
  6. rejoice that the word of the Lord endures forever (Job 19:23,24)

Lessons Learned Too Late

1st Kings 13

The man of God began with courage and devotion to God, but very sadly ended in tragedy.

Lessons to be learned:

  1. Religious people don’t always tell the truth.
  2. Sincerity alone does not make things right.
  3. Earlier obedience will not cover later disobedience.
  4. God means what He says.

The man of God learned these lessons too late to do him any good.

  • Will we avoid making the same mistake he did?
